Elliott Byrd ‘22: In Michigan, only two winter sports currently run. This includes bowling, and swim and dive. Romeo’s varsity team started their season off with limited practice and little to no time to prepare for the season. Romeo faced a very good Lakeview Husky team to start the season off. The Bulldogs swam hard but in the end, they came up short, losing 143 to 45.
Junior Logan Wentz saw his first meet of a very strange season as an opportunity to grow and get better.
“We’ve had a short season, but I think we did pretty good. I’m excited to keep working hard and pushing for better times,” Wentz ‘22 said.
Fellow junior Sean Sellars explained how hard the team fought even with the team facing a ton of adversity one week into the season.
“Unfortunately we didn’t win, It was our first meet since last year, and with an already shortened season, we only had a week and a half of practice before the meet against Lakeview. The boys worked really hard and everyone gave their best,” Sellars ‘22 said.
The team knows there is still a ton of work, however they continue to grind throughout the season, tap into their potential and find greatness.
Look for the Bulldogs to bounce back at Lamphere high school next week Thursday, February 11th.
