Nathan Goralski ‘18: The Romeo Boys Varsity Soccer Team play their first game on the new turf at Dan Barnabo stadium on Saturday, September 23rd at noon against Grosse Pointe South. The Bulldogs aren’t off to the greatest start for the 2017 campaign with a 2-7-1 record, but they remain hopeful that the new start on turf will add a spark to their season.
“I’m really excited to finally be the first soccer team at Romeo to start playing on the artificial turf,” John Messing ‘18 said.
The soccer team typically uses Memorial Field for their home games, which is a natural grass field. Occasionally, soccer games have been held at Barnabo but the grass could not be kept up to par to be played on for both soccer and football. Now, with the implementation of the turf both sports can be safely be held at Barnabo.
