Himmelsbaugh ’21: Since their competitive kickoff in early April, the boys’ golf team shows up to the course ready to play. Over the past two weeks, the team earned a record of 4-1 in conference matches, and high finishes in tournaments. Both varsity and junior varsity continue improving and working to reach new limits.
On April 30th, the team took on Eisenhower High School at Greystone Golf Course. In a competitive field of players, the team prevailed, pulling off an impressive win. Max Miller ‘21 led the team with an impressive 38 , followed by a 40 from Matthew Himmelsbaugh ‘23, a 41 from Blake LaBaere ‘21, a 43 from Dominic Delaura ‘24, and a 47 from Connor Holas ‘21. The team wrapped up holding impressive scores on a chilly day. This victory wrapped up a successful, undefeated first month of the season for the team.
On May 12th, the Bulldogs traveled to Cherry Creek Golf Course, to take on Eisenhower once again. A tough loss for Romeo, the Eagles proved just how important home turf can be. Even after losing the hard fought battle, the Bulldog still posted impressive scores. Dominic Delaura ’24 led the team with a 40, followed by Max Miller ‘21’s 41, Blake LaBaere ‘21’s ‘42, as well as Connor Holas ‘21’s and Dominic Orlando ‘21’s pair of 44s.
The team hosts Grosse Pointe North and South this Friday for a tri-match and travels to Forest Akers West at Michigan State University this Saturday to take on an open field.
