Rachel Peil ‘22: The boys varsity baseball team played their first game of the 2021 season, at home on Monday, March 29 against Richmond High School.
Coronavirus took away the Bulldogs 2020 season but coach Delamielleure and the players kept optimistic for the new year.
“It feels really good to be back since last year was taken away. The only thing that is different is the amount of time we had to prepare for our first game and with four of the kids on the team quarantined that didn’t help,” Cole Tinson ’22 said.
On the mound, Linken Hayward ‘21 pitched a great game, and although everyone on the team played a part in scoring runs, the Bulldogs fell short with a final score of 8-5.
The team then traveled to compete against Notre Dame Preparatory on Tuesday, March 30.
Josiah Hicks ‘22 started off the game for the Bulldogs, looking to get that first win of the season after Monday’s tough loss. Hicks looked strong as he allowed just two hits in five innings.
The team ended up winning with a score of 4-0 with Alex Gintner ‘22 and Hicks with two hits each. Ryan Kaminski ‘22 singled and earned an RBI.
Romeo next takes the field on Tuesday, April 13, against Lake Orion.
