Kade Messner 17′ – On November 4th, a bond is trying to be passed to upgrade all of Romeo’s sports facilities. Not only will it give the football players a brand new stadium with turf, but it will also upgrade the track, tennis courts, soccer field, baseball diamonds, softball diamonds, bathrooms, and concessions. It is a 7 million dollar bond which does not raise any tax rates. If you pay $100,000 a year for your home, you will only pay an extra $38 a year.
“I would love to play on a new tennis court and show it off to other schools we have a match against,” Junior tennis play, Josh Schultz exclaimed.
This bond will focus most on the reconstruction of Barnobo Field. Barnobo is known as being one of the most out of date stadiums. It has not been updated since 1971. Yes, 1971. If the November 4th bond gets passed, it will grant the field with new bleachers, bathrooms, ticket booth, concessions, lockerroom, track, and a turf field.
“I think it is good for all Romeo athletics and passing this bond will give Romeo respectable sport facilities to play on and show off,” Football player Josh Bilski ‘16 said.
The locker room the football team sits in at halftime was originally built to hold 20 players. Today, there are 50-70 athletes crammed into it. Also, the bathrooms at Barnobo are tiny. Only 5 people can fit into the restroom at one time and thousands of people go to the stadium to support games every Friday night. This bill presents lots of positive effects for our community while presenting little to none negative effects.
Vote November 4th!
