Giovanna Ruffino ‘19 and Joseph Milana ‘19: Next up on the list of hidden gems within the community of Romeo, Art and Jakes, located between 30 and 31 mile and Van Dyke road. Art and Jakes influences lots of entertainment and creates a fun atmosphere for customers. TVs surrounding the inside, music, great food and drinks help promote the lively restaurant.
In 2002, Art and Jakes began as a single restaurant. Over the years, with the help of experience, hard work, and dedication, three more restaurants followed soon enough.
In addition to the family residing in Romeo, a few members of the family attend Romeo Community Schools. Mackenzie Trpcevski ‘21 explains what about this Art and Jakes location that makes it proprietary.
“They believe in using house chefs and creating home made foods,” Trpcevski ‘21 said.
Art and Jakes incorporated the small town feel of Romeo into their restaurant, isolating it as proprietary. In addition to the interior differing from other Art & Jakes, the exterior also differs.
“The Romeo Art and Jakes is the only one in a shopping center, as all the other ones are free standing buildings”, Trpcevski ‘21 said.
Members of the community feel comfortable to stop by and grab a quick, quality meal whenever they please.
