Sydney Raines ‘17: Starting off the fall season in full swing, Romeo Theater Company proudly presents Arsenic and Old Lace. This dark comedy features two old ladies by the names of Abby and Martha, played by Camryn D’Angelo and Carly Wilson respectively, who rent out rooms for the lost and lonely back in 1940s Brooklyn.
The fall production also features Mortimer, the uptight play critic played by Paul Davidson, who tries with all of his might to protect his mercenary aunts from the police. CJ Garver takes the role of the overly controlling and murderous Jonathan, who squashes all in the way of his homicidal rampage. The deranged third nephew Teddy, played by Chaise Chaffe, believes he is the real Teddy Roosevelt. The cast chosen for the fall comedy are beyond perfect for their roles.
The old sisters kill off those they feel are in need of a helping hand, but of course they see nothing wrong with the matter. Their killing spree comes to an end when their nephew Jonathan demands a place to hide from his own homicidal record. Mortimer is left picking up the shambles trying to hide his dear aunt’s cellar graveyard from the police lurking after Jonathan.
The show kicks off on November 4th and continues playing on the 5th at 7p.m. at Romeo High School and 2p.m. on the 6th. Tickets are on sale online at showtix4u.com and at the teller window outside the auditorium for $7. Make sure to see the spectacular show twice for the production is double cast.
