Cameron Kemp ‘19: On Monday, May 7, the varsity Baseball team traveled to L’anse Creuse to play the Lancers. With a previous 6-3 in conference record and 14-5 overall, the team didn’t want to negatively impact their strong record. Ace pitcher, Kaden Stively ‘19, who pitches every Monday, was on the mound for the Bulldogs. He led the team to the 8-0 victory, pitching a complete game shutout, while giving up only two hits and striking out 11. Matthew Staelgraeve ‘18 hit the ball extremely well, going 4 for 4 hitting a triple and also driving in three runs.

“We capitalized on their errors and scored runs, our team’s defense was also great,“ Stively ‘19 said.

As a result of this game, the Bulldog’s record moved to 14-5 overall and 7-3 in conference. They will finish the week off with two more games against L’anse Creuse and a double header against Stoney Creek.

Cameron Kemp ‘19: The Bulldogs continued their series against the L’anse Creuse Lancers on May 9 at home. After already taking the first of the three game series, the Bulldogs were confident they could also take game two. Leading the team, pitcher Rhett Stahovec ‘18, tossed five shutout innings and contributed offensively with two hits of his own. Matthew Staelgraeve ‘18 stayed red hot driving in three runs with a single, double, and his third home run of the season. Eric Meldrum ‘19 also helped the team out with two hits and an RBI.

“Everyone hit the ball well and our defense was solid. It was a great team effort and a good win,” Meldrum ‘19 said.

This game moved the team’s record to a solid 15-5 overall and 7-3 in conference. Upcoming this week, the team will finish the series off at L’anse Creuse on Thursday and with a double header on Saturday against Stoney Creek.

Cameron Kemp ‘19: The varsity Baseball team traveled to L’anse Creuse for the second time this week on May 10. After winning the first two games the team knew this could be a chance to sweep the Lancers. Leading the team to the 1-0 victory, starting pitcher Patrick Vinckier ‘19, threw a solid 6 innings allowing only 3 hits. Relieving him, Matthew Staelgraeve ‘18 who threw a perfect seventh inning to pick up his fifth save, and sealed the victory for the team. Offensively the team struggled mustering up only one run. Although the only run was scored on a passed ball, Matthew Staelgraeve ‘18, Eric Meldrum ‘19, and Nathan Rinke ‘18 all singled.

“Our defense kept us in the game because our hitting wasn’t as strong as normal. What’s the most important, is that we got our first sweep of the year,” Vinckier ‘19 said.

This game moved the teams record to an excellent 16-5 and 8-3 in conference. Still yet to come this week, the team will face off against Stoney Creek on the road in their cancer awareness game on Saturday, May 12.
