Thursday, March 27, during 5th and 6th hour, “9-5: The Musical” will make its debut in RHS’ auditorium. Tickets have been being sold at lunch for $10 presale and $12 at the door. The musical will also be featured on Thursday, March 27 at 7pm, Friday, March 28 at 8pm, Saturday, March 29 at 8pm, and Sunday, March 30 at 2pm.
Based off of the movie from 1980, the musical showcases three female co-workers who develop a plan to get back at their ill-mannered boss and take over his company.
The cast and crew members of the musical, including Nicholas Sienkiewicz (9), have very high expectations for their upcoming production.
“I’m very excited to see the musical all come together as one. We have really worked hard considering the type of rehearsals we have had and I’m really excited to see how far the cast has come since we have started,” Sienkiewicz said.
Olivia Brown (12), who has one of the main roles in the musical, is expecting the audience to be laughing throughout the entire show.
“I think a lot of people our age don’t know a lot about the show, but there is a lot of mature humor that students can relate to this time rather than trying to relate to other shows like Peter Pan,” Brown said.
Aside from the constant laughs, the audience can also expect to see a lot of fashion and lingo that was used at the time. Olivia Belfie (11), who also has a main role, had a lot of fun with the time period of the show.
“I’m really excited for my hair. It’s like a 1980’s wig. Everything in the musical is based off of the 80’s. I’ve also learned a lot about the 80’s and I really enjoyed that,” Belfie said.
The comedic musical will not disappoint. Avery Beadle (12), who also holds a lead role, guarantees that students who attend the play will enjoy it. “It’s very empowering, heartwarming, and wonderful.”
