The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards aired on CBS on Sunday September 22nd, at 8pm. It is a night where the best of television shows and its actors are awarded for their excellence. Neil Patrick Harris, also known as Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother, hosted the event for his second time. The Emmy Awards featured multiple tributes, including one to Corey Monteith of Glee, who passed away due to drug overdose and Carrie Underwood performed a tribute to the Beatles, with the song, “Yesterday”. In addition, many stars went home with awards, such as Jim Parsons from The Big Bang Theory, for winning “Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.” Tina Fey took home the award for “Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series” in 30 Rock. The Voice picked up the award for “Outstanding Reality- Competition Program.” Also, Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn won “Outstanding Host for A Reality or Reality- Competition Program” for Project Runway. Two of the biggest winners of the night were the shows Breaking Bad and Modern Family. Breaking Bad took home the award for “Outstanding Drama Series.” Modern Family won “Outstanding Comedy Series” for it’s fourth year in a row. The Emmy’s had another great year of awards and entertainment.

  • Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie-Laura Linney, The Big C: Hereafter

  • Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie-Michael Douglas, Behind the Candelabra

  • Reality-Competition Program- The Voice

  • Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program-Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn, Project Runway

  • Writing For a Comedy Series-Tina Fey & Tracey Wigfield – 30 Rock
